Mondsand Quartet

The Mondsand Quartet was founded by Rebecca Blanz (mezzo-soprano), Farida Rustamova (violin), Franziska Rees (cello) and Zoë Knoop (harp). They met during their studies at the conservatory of Detmold, and have been working on their musical development of their chamber music programm ever since.

In their many-sided programm they focus on arrangements of classical pieces as well as film music, tango and the combination of different styles and pieces. This has led for example to an arrangement of Vivaldi’s Summer and of Piazzolla’s Winter, the latter requiring the use of a melodica.

The poem cycle Mondsand by the French/German poet Hans Arp, which was set to music by Matthias Bonitz, inspired the quartet to name themselves after this cycle, after playing the première and recording the piece.
